An Giang occupies a position in the upper reaches of the Mekong Delta. The Hau Giang and Tien Giang branches of the Mekong are the dominant geographical features of the province. An Giang shares 100km the border with Cambodia in the north-west.  It is adjacent Dong Thap Province in the east, Can Tho city in the south-east and Kien Giang province in the south-west.

Topography
An Giang occupies a position in the upper reaches of the Mekong Delta. The Hau Giang and Tien Giang branches of the Mekong River are the dominant geographical features of the province. With the exception of the west, most of An Giang is fairly flat, and is criss-crossed by many canals and small rivers. This terrain has led to An Giang being a significant agricultural centre, producing significant quantities of rice.

Climate
There are two main seasons in An Giang: rainy season (from May to November) and dry season (from December to April the following year). The average temperature is 27oC.

Tourism
An Giang is main province in rice output. The province also has corn and aquatic products as basa fish, shrimp, cuttle, etc. An Giang is also renowned as traditional handicraft such as Tan Chau silk, Chau Doc fish sauce and other consumer products. Especially, long-standing handicraft weaves fabric industry of Cham ethnic group.

Coming to An Giang, tourists should not miss the chance to visit Oc-Eo Remain Site - a famous place known to many people inside the country and overseas. It is a vast ancient vestige site of the Funan Kingdom, a powerful nation in the Southeast Asia area about two thousand years ago. This Remains Site lies in the mountainous region of Nui Sap – Ba The in Thoai Son District, 30km from Long Xuyen. In the middle Ages, the ancient citadel of Oc-Eo used to be a commercial centre. Other famous sites and attractions include Sam Mountain in Chau Doc, Cam Mountain in Tien Binh, Tuc Dup Hill, grottoes network of Thuy Dai Son, Anh Vu Son, Co To, and many historical vestiges.

An Giang is famous for particular festivals as Lady Chua Xu Temple Festival (23rd to 27th days of the 4th lunar month), Ox Racing Festival of Khmer Group (In the 9th lunar month together with Dolta Ceremony).

Transportation
An Giang has a relatively convenient land and water transport system. National Road 91 connects to Cambodia. Long Xuyen City is 62km from Can Tho, 125km from My Tho, and 190km from Ho Chi Minh City. Chau Doc Town is 96km from Ha Tien, 117km from Can Tho, 179km from My Tho, and 245km from Ho Chi Minh City.
